Just Keep Going
Ready, set, go!
Over the past few weeks you have been exploring your fitness interests and trying out new activities. You’ve explored the pros and cons of your favorite ones, and decided which is right for you. Now, it’s time to take action!
Plan, plan, plan!
Plan around your activity; put it in your phone or on your calendar. Set that block of time aside for yourself. You are more likely to succeed in long term success if you act as though this is an appointment with yourself. If you need to purchase any new items, make a list so you won’t forget anything. Plan and be prepared!
Whether this is a new activity or an addition to a current one, be sure to start slowly. Maybe you have taken up running. Don’t go out there thinking you need to run 5 miles the first day. All you really need to do is run. You may only be able to run a mile and that’s okay. Set small progressive goals for yourself and this will help you to stay on track.
Remember why you started this.
What was your intention? Was it to lose weight? Lower blood pressure? Gain muscle? Maybe you just wanted to try something new? You may be looking to get out in nature, or to just get out of the house. Whatever your reason is, no matter how great or small, it’s a great reason. It’s YOUR reason! Keep this in mind when you are “too tired” or “don’t feel like it.”
Be kind to yourself.
Most importantly, be kind to yourself. Don’t get down on yourself when you don’t do as well as you had hoped. Maybe you missed one day. It’s okay. Life happens. Every day, strive to do your best; and remember that every day, your best will be different.
YOU are important.
YOU are enough, just as you are right now.
Some days you are going to crush it, and some days you may feel like you are the one getting crushed. Just keep going. Enjoy the accomplishments as they come. Remember, the journey in getting to your goal is just as fun as achieving it.
“A positive attitude causes a chain reaction of positive thoughts, events and outcomes. It is a catalyst and it sparks extraordinary results.”
